“New Dork” from Grasshopper.com

April 30th, 2010

The guys at Grasshopper.com have been making waves over the past 2 years by getting aggressive with their marketing via a couple of viral videos and one ballsy chocolate grasshopper mailer.  For those of you who haven’t seen their latest I thought it was a fun way to close out Friday.  Here’s to the New Dork!

HatHead: From the Ground Up.

We Are HatHead and We Are Taking Over!

January 21st, 2010

What?  You was expectin’ someone else?

Yes – it’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you…….you know the rest.  After a 2 year detour HatHead is back and better than ever.

I won’t bore you with the details, but it has been an exhausting combination of challenges that derailed the master plan 2 years ago.  It probably would have been much easier on the body, mind, soul and pocketbook if we had just bagged the whole idea and moved on – but when you love to do something, you just keep going.

So what is HatHead doing now?  We are working extensively with incredible brands across the country to deliver the quality and design that HatHead is known for.  It’s an incredible experience to work with many of the companies and entrepreneurs who we get to work with on a daily basis.  You will get to meet many of our friends on this blog as we roll out our interview series to give insight into what makes these guys and gals tick, how they’ve overcome challenges and what makes their story worth paying attention to.

We also started our charitable arm under the name “Keep Your Head Up” which gives a percentage of all sales to various charities and organizations working with underpriveleged children who are less fortunate than many of us.  It’s the thing I’m personally most excited about.  You’ll hear a lot about Keep Your Head Up on this blog as we roll out the program and begin to make an impact.

We WILL STILL BE DOING DESIGN CONTESTS, however it will be limited on a contest by contest basis as opposed to an ongoing contest with voting it initiatially began as.  This is something we may revisit as time goes on, however the inventory requirements and timelines make it a challenge.  All of our headwear is built from scratch so it’s a vastly different process from that of printing t-shirts.  We just want to be able to do this right and currently the challenges involved would create more frustration than fun.  I’ll keep you posted.

We welcome incoming designs and will pay if we decide to build your design as a part of HatHead’s retail site.  We will begin adding more headwear to the website periodically and are very excited about what the future brings for hathead.com

You’ll find our postings on this blog to be fairly random and covering everything from interviews with entrepreneurs and companies we love to design, fashion, business, success, failure and random musings about where we’re at and where we’re going.

We look forward to your stories and hope you enjoy.

We are HatHead and we are taking over.  Get used to it.
